Community Voices: Aids Orphans

Have Mercy Primary School was founded by Theta trained traditional herbalist, Haji Abaasi Sematimba. One of the students came to the office, and, in English, told us of his experience and aspirations.

Student: The reason I joined this school is some people saying there is free education from Have Mercy Primary School and free meals. That is the reason I decided to join this school.

I don’t have any relatives, I am a orphan. I don’t have a mom and a dad. The message I give to other children who have not joined this school.  I extend to them to come to Have Mercy Primary School because there is a free education and free meals. There is everything you want, good teachers that are not rude.  That is the reason I am requesting others come and join Have Mercy Primary School. It has helped me,  I have only one relative, he is my half brother.

I am in P7.  I joined this school at A7.  I study science, english, social studies, and mathematics. I want to be, after studying, a doctor.  In mathematics, I try, but my best subject is science. I will treat sick people, like AIDS, communicable diseases.  These are diseases which spread from an infected person to a healthy person either by direct contact or through germs.   AIDS is an incurable disease.  You can avoid getting it by avoiding using sharp needles and razor blades and avoid sex,  A stands for abstinence from sex. B: being faithful, C: Condoms, using condoms.
